Jessica Bell got her breakthrough role as a preacher's daughter on the WB's 7th Heaven. Since then, people have been raving about Jessica Biel's future possibilities. Even Jessica Biel herself felt that big things awaited her, and that her goody-goody role on 7th Heaven was preventing her from taking on more meaningful roles, such as the role in American Beauty that she read for (the part went to Thora Birch).
That led to the controversy surrounding her almost nude photo shoot and frank interview in Gear magazine before she turned 18 in an effort to upset Aaron Spelling and get him to tear up her squeaky-clean 7th Heaven contract.
In the long run, Jessica Biel managed to shed her good-girl image. She left 7th Heaven in 2001 and appeared in a string of high-profile movies since, including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Cellular (2004), Blade: Trinity, Stealth (2005) and Next. She let us see her funny side in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and a dramatic side in Hole in the Paper Sky (2008) and Easy Virtue (2008). Despite a couple of forgettable roles in 2009, she's the main reason to take your girl to see Valentine's Day for the holiday of the same name in 2010, a film in which she plays a business woman whose career gets in the way of her love life.
