Why do they have to put so many add-ons on cellular phones, most of which are not used by owners? Why can't they just stick to the basics?

Because it is easier and cheaper to produce these phones in great masses, rather than having two different productions. Besides, it wouldn't cost you any less if you had less add-ons on a cell phone. There a lot of people who enjoy many of the applications, such as myself, on their phones and use them to the maximum. If anyone doesn't want those add-ons, they can just go for a basic phone.

The cellphone manufacturing company gives some basic facilities along with the cell piece, which is cheaper. But you can go for more add-ons, at the same time the cost will go up. ie we can add GPS, Internet, Memory card etc. So the more facilities you add, more cost you have to pay. I hope this helps.
