Open the Settings menu. Choose General > About This Device. The iPhone’s serial number would be displayed with a lot of other information like Capacity, Version, Wi-Fi address, Number of songs, photos, videos, and applications. So carefully scroll down and you would find the serial number.

Using the serial number, you can get full information about your iPhone on the Apple official website. To do this, copy down the serial number and go to www.apple.com.

Enter the serial number and verification code in the space provided and click continue. The full information about the iPhone like its original color, model number, weight, specifications would be displayed, this would help you know if your iPhone has been tampered with.

Alternatively, you can copy the model number provided when you open the Settings menu. Choose General > About This Device. Copy down the model number and go to https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201296 and you will see the list of all iPhones and their model number, year of production, colors, full specifications and countries it is released for. Crosscheck your iPhone’s model number with the list provided in the website and you will find your iPhone model there.

  • iTunes Software

iTunes is an apple software for Windows and Mac which is used to do some certain tasks on your apple device like update, upgrade, downgrade, backup, recover, reset and also import and export media files to your device. This is also an excellent way to know get your iPhone model number.

To use iTunes to get your iPhone model number, using a good charging cable, connect your iPhone to a computer that has iTunes, launch iTunes and the iPhone will be automatically detected and the icon of the connected iPhone would display at the top left corner of the iTunes panel. Click on the icon and you will be taken to the iPhone settings.

  • Manual Check

Let’s say in a situation where the iPhone is switched off and you can’t get the serial or model number from the settings menu, there is a manual method for getting the model number.

On iPhone 7 or earlier (iPhone 6, 5, 4, 3), the iPhone model is printed at the bottom side on the back of the iPhone.

On iPhone 8 or later (iPhone X, 11), the iPhone number is hidden in a different position. Remove the SIM card tray and carefully look in the tray slot, you will find the iPhone model number printed on the display side (upper side) of the SIM card tray.
